our story
It was not love at first sight. Just two friends living with each other over the summer on campus because Devon needed somewhere to stay and Morgan was willing to help.
After hanging out with each other, laughing together, and giving each other advice about relationships, they both started to see each other in a different light. After the summer was over, they went their separate ways but, they still kept in contact. They gave little flirting hints here and there through conversations but, no feelings were expressed.
When the Fall semester came around, Morgan decided to put on her “Big Girl Pants” and tell Devon how she felt. By that, she sat next to him, wrote her feelings in her phone, and passed it to him [lol.] She was terrified Devon was going to reject her. Surprisingly, Devon wrote his mutual feelings in her phone and passed it back to her. It was from that moment, their lives changed for the better.
Seven happy years
January 1, 2012 is when their love journey began.
They went through obstacles in their relationship such as being long distance for about a year to going through the struggles of living on their own. Like any relationship, they’ve had their ups and downs. Over the years, through learning and growing with one another, they have had many more ups.
They have traveled to many states to have fun with family or spend quality time with each other. Despite their busy schedules, they find time to do their favorite things: going to the movies, eating at their favorite restaurants, going to comedy shows, and going to NBA games. In their future marriage, they hope for their love and bond to only grow stronger and they get to spend 100 more happy years together! <3
Devon knew for about two years into the relationship where and how he wanted to propose but wanted to wait until the perfect time to do it. Christmas 2017, Devon bought Morgan Disney gifts as hints and then he presented her with the big surprise: plane tickets to go to Orlando, FL (DISNEYWORLD!!!) They both love Disney but, Morgan is a Mickey Mouse FANATIC. She has been wanting to go back to Disneyworld since the last time she was there was when she was a toddler. She thought she was just going on a fun vacation but, little did she know Devon had more up his sleeve.
He had his parents, his brother, and her parents all part of the plan. They flew down to Orlando as well and stayed at the very same hotel. They stayed low key until the special day.
Devon and Morgan spent their time at different parks but, the proposal was the Magic Kingdom. Their family came to the park way before Devon and Morgan so, they could hide until they were cued to come over. When Morgan and Devon arrived at the park, Morgan was recording and taking pictures. When their family spotted them, they sneakily and slowly walked behind them. When Devon and Morgan stopped at the Walt and Mickey statue, Devon said “why don’t you take a picture of it and the castle”. While Morgan’s back was turned, Devon signaled his brother Marquis to come over. When Morgan turned around and saw his brother, her face was filled of shock and confusion. Then, her mom, her mom’s boyfriend, and his mom started walking down taking pictures and recording. Morgan was nervously laughing and was still in shock.
Devon got on one knee and asked Morgan to marry him and she nodded and said yes! He asked, “Are you sure?” and she nodded again and said yesss! Devon got up, grabbed her face and kissed her while everyone was shouting and clapping. Morgan’s dad couldn’t make to the park but, there was another surprise in store.
Everyone decided to go to dinner at Universal Studios to celebrate and Morgan’s dad was there to surprise her. She was so surprised and happy to see him. Morgan said that day was one of the best days of her life and Devon did an amazing job putting it together.
